This paper presents a critical analysis of the state of solid waste management regulations in Cameroon and constraints this places on the delivery of sustainable waste management solutions. Several factors including inadequate financial resources, low levels of enforcement of regulations and poor governance often lead to poor solid waste management services. The DMG project is essentially "legal scanlations," with everyone involved getting paid for their work.Īs far as Kagami goes, we're going to discuss our various Digital Manga projects on here, perhaps provide an insight into the localization and editing process, decisions we make about to handle our projects, and occasionally cross-link with our other (and much more well known) website, and cities in Cameroon exhibit the burdens of waste management which characterise so many African cities. If you haven't heard of the program, it essentially involves Digital Manga working with fans to set up several fan-run manga editing groups to do all the work that a professional team of editors at a publishing house would do in order to translate, edit and basically "ready" manga to be sent off to the printers, so it can be printed and sold in English. This is the blog for Kagami Productions, one of the groups working with Digital Manga's "Digital Manga Guild" program.
These introductory posts are always awkward, so I'm going to bypass the Hellos and jump right into what this blog is about. (As an aside, Mario Kart 7 is great fun.) We're hoping to have it wrapped up at least a week before our deadline. Instead, we were able to focus entirely on fleshing out the characters' personalities in English, which is very enjoyable. It's more mature in how it approaches relationships, characters are more interesting, and the art style is a very nice change from the shoujo-esque designs of Holding Hands Together as well.īest of all, Alterna's dialogue is a lot more realistic and down-to-earth, which doesn't require fiddling on our part to make it not sound cringe-worthy. Holding Hands Together was the first time I actually looked at the stuff, and not being very familiar with the genre, I found a lot of the things that yaoi fans probably tend to take for granted rather odd.īy comparison, I would say Alterna is the kind of story anyone can read and perhaps relate to, on some level, regardless of whether they're straight, gay, yaoi fans, or just manga fans. I'm straight, and not a yaoi reader by any means. I don't mean to play favourites, but personally, I prefer Alterna a whole lot more to Holding Hands Together in general. It needs to be submitted by the end of the month, but since the guideline challenges we faced with HHT don't apply to this project, it's going by a whole lot faster. Our next project is Alterna, which we're about halfway through as of this post. After a lot of repeated fiddling with the dialogue, we finally got it to a level we're happy with. On occasion, I'd find myself walking about the house, trying to play conversations out in my head to see how they would sound. Dialogue in HHT bordered on overly fluffy at times, and while that might sound fine in Japanese, it sounded terrible, translated directly into English. One of the many challenges with Holding Hands Together that we can talk about is dialogue. That said, we finally managed to get through the project, submit it, and have it approved (only two fixes needed to be made for approval!). It took us quite a while - much longer than we would have liked, frankly - to get Holding Hands Together completed and submitted.ĭiscussing some of the guidelines that we need to follow during the editing/typesetting process is forbidden, but suffice it to say, in the case of Holding Hands Together, some of our font choices made things a whole lot harder than they needed to be.
The past few weeks have been super busy, which is why the last blog post before this one was made in late August.
